A Hard Sequel

I feel sad. Not in a seasonal affective disorder kind of a way–though it is cold out, and this is England–but In a way that might make Pierce Brosnan and the other Bonds weep themselves to sleep; why? Well, I can’t remember the theme tune to Quantum Of Solace, the main point of the story, or any of the dialogue, of which I recall there was quite a lot to get through; to me that means that the sequel More

Film Review: The Woodsman

The Woodsman (2004) confronts the disturbing subject matter of pedophilia with a conviction that makes it both hard to digest, and also strangely watchable.

Released after twelve years of imprisonment for offences that the film only ever hints at–offences somewhat skewed out of all proportion by the chinese whispers that follow–Walter (played by a dedicated Kevin Bacon) comes face to face with the old life and neighbourhood he used to call his own; with a new job and a new More

Twin Peaks

I really have to say that there are a lot of television shows out there right now that are genuine rubbish! It seems like nothing is written for the long term anymore, and that every episode is thought up precisely 24 hours before it goes on air. Don’t get me wrong, who doesn’t love a little bit of Eastenders, but it really is easy sometimes to get a bit tired of the complete lack of character development throughout the run of a show.

This is what I loved about the television show Twin Peaks that came out in the early nineties. Directed by the unstoppable David Lynch it had everyone in the world discussing Who Killed Laura? Turns out that David Lynch actually had all six seasons written before they even began filming! Thus making actually character arcs and creating a more in-depth story line that people wanted to follow, the only downside to the entire thing is that they decided to cancel the entire series after 2 seasons. So you should probably be warned of that before you jump in to start watching the series, and then in an attempt to satisfy fans the producers decided to make a movie. Which is fine other then they fact they told Lynch that if he made the movie he could have another season, so Lynch put a bunch of new characters in the film and alas no season three.

In short this is something I would definitely recommend, but beware that you will be terribly disappointed when it all comes to an end!
